It is ironic the last time I made a post I mentioned I was recovering. Well, tomorrow morning I'm going in for another surgery, so I hope I can say the same thing in a few days.

This is one of the most neglected sites on the network. I soon hope to have it up and running and make things work for potential visitors to fight spam. I'm also going to add some fictional stories with a spam-fighting theme to make the site interesting.

But first, I've got to get through tomorrow. Where the hell is that medevac chopper?

Spam Hunter’s Self-Education Course

All right, sit up straight and pay attention. We’re going to kick this course off with some preparation.

In the days to come you will learn a lot about defending yourself against spam attacks and other computer parasites.

You are going to learn the steps you need to take in order to protect yourself from the ongoing assaults from cyber criminals.

Spam Hunter will train you in one of two ways, or perhaps both.

First, we will teach you what you need to know in order to defend yourself from cyber attacks. We’re not going to limit ourselves on what kind of attacks we’ll cover.

If it can hurt you and damage your computer, we will explore it. If it is unwanted, we’ll cover it.

We’ll help you with the groundwork you need to cover in order to set up a self-defense system against cyber parasites. We might even throw in a few non-cyber exterminators as well.

If you are looking for just a way to keep yourself as safe as possible while using your computer, then this is the place to stop. You are among the first group and one of the two ways, we’ll train.

If you want to go beyond just learning how to use the precautions you need to set up for cyber self-defense and learn how to track down, identify and eliminate those cyber parasites that annoy you, then you will be in the second group, and you will learn from the second of the two ways.

Learning both ways, learning self-defense and learning cyber-hunting tricks, puts you in both groups and that makes you a cadet for full-fledged Spam & Scam Hunters training.

Remember one thing. Most scams start from spam operations. They are related like inbred cousins. Actually, they’re related more like inbred siblings.

We use a lot of military jargon, that’s mostly for fun. We want to keep our edge sharp, instead of dull.

Let’s make one thing clear, here and now. We’re not out to advocate violence against anyone. We’ll show you how to track down the culprits that have been bombarding your computer with malice intend. But what we advocate is that you report them to the proper authorities, the regulating agencies, the servers, both web and email servers, and reporting organizations who follow up on the information you supply them with.

That’s it, buddy.

You take the fight to the frontlines and then you let the justice department and the top brass do the rest. You got that, Soldier?

We have a few operations going on right now. In the days to follow, you will learn about some of them.

Some of our operations are covert operations. We will need to keep them secret until the feds collar the rascals and tell them, “Watch your head!”

Other operations like, “Operation DA’s Office”, we’ll open up wide and bring it above the surface. The reason is, we need all of the exposure and the help we can get on this parasite—Queen Bee—with thousands of drones and worker bees stinging and infecting millions of computers worldwide.

We’ll tell you about Operation DA’s Office shortly—it’s ongoing—but let’s get you prepped for the basic boot camp.

Like we said, most scams generally spread from spam operations. Put another way, spam usually leads to scam jobs. That infectious spam is dropped into your email inbox daily.

Email servers are doing a great job today in identifying spam and stuffing it in your spam folder. All you need to do is push a button. Bingo, the spam is gone. Great job! The only problem is it keeps coming back. Tomorrow you’ll have another wheelbarrow full of spam in your inbox. You’ll have calluses on your fingers like guitar players from pushing that spam button so much.

The only way you are going to get rid of the spam is to hunt it down, identify the parasite and then destroy it like any good Spam Hunter worth his salt would do.

For today, we’ll save all the rosy statistics about how much bandwidth spammers use up, how many billions of dollars businesses lose, and how many poor spam victims end up in the nuthouse because they couldn’t take it anymore. We’re going to get right to the meat, spam meat that is.

Like when defusing a live bomb, you’ve got to keep your head on and not get careless.

Now, before we send you to the trenches, we’re going to give you a little homework.

We know the heroes behind the scenes of all the email servers in the world are doing their best in creating spam dumps. But, your assignment is this, Soldier:

For a week, count how many spam messages are in your incoming email, no matter where it lands, inbox, or spam folder. (It better not be in your outgoing mail, or we’ll send you to the frontlines like yesterday!)

It doesn’t matter how you keep track of it, by using your word processor, WordPad, NotePad, yellow legal pad, napkin that chick at the bar gave you her phone number on, you are not going to call her anyway. Write down the date you received each spam email, and the messages up on the header, check out who sent it and from where, what email server. List them by number. Now go ahead and delete them by pressing the SPAM button.

For one full week, that’s seven days, Soldier, night and day, you keep track of these parasite droppings and make note of just how much infestation you have. I want you to note if you see a pattern of the same type of emails coming from the same senders with the same messages.

We’ll carry on when we meet again. But we need to get you walking instead of crawling.
